Ceremonial farewell to the XV generation of male and the XI generation of female graduates of the Medresa “Mehmed Fatih”
A ceremonial academy was held in the hall of the KIC “Budo Tomović” in Podgorica to bid farewell to the XV generation of male graduates and the XI generation of female graduates of the Medresa “Mehmed Fatih”.
In the presence of many distinguished guests — representatives of state institutions, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Montenegro, H.E. Ayda Ünlü, parents, teachers, friends of the school and guests from social and public life — the completion of schooling was solemnly marked for yet another generation of students, who leave the Medresa carrying the knowledge, upbringing, memories and values woven into the years spent at this institution.
The programme was opened by the director of the Medresa, Amer ef. Šukurica, who addressed the graduates, their parents, the teachers and the guests. In his address he highlighted the importance of the knowledge, upbringing, morals and responsibility that the Medresa seeks to develop in its students.
“Tonight, four years of our work and effort come together before us. Today we bid farewell to another generation of graduates. Let us remind ourselves what the Medresa means to all of us. Above all, dear parents, for you it is the place where your children are brought up, from which they leave as our greatest strength for the future. Dear teachers, thank you for your patience and dedicated work. Dear students, today you stand at a turning point in your lives. You leave our school more mature, better prepared and more responsible. Respected friends of the Medresa, the foundation of our institution is work, effort and dedication. We thank the Government of Montenegro for its support. I also thank the TIKA agency for its continuous and invaluable support, and everyone who has, in any way, put a part of themselves into this institution,” said director Šukurica, among other things.
The guests were also addressed by the Reis of the Islamic Community in Montenegro, Rifat ef. Fejzić, who offered the graduates words of support and encouragement, stressing the importance of education, preserving one’s identity, responsibility towards the community and serving society through knowledge, character and nobility.
“At the outset I wish to congratulate everyone who has led this educational institution so far — an institution that has today come of age. I also take this opportunity to congratulate all citizens of Montenegro on 20 years of the state’s independence. The road we have travelled was demanding. At the beginning, even I was not aware of the magnitude of this institution. After many challenges, we managed to build a respected educational institution. Dear children, I wish you all the best in life. Remember: be good people, so that you may be believers. Take care of yourselves, your community, your families, your friends and your country. That is our duty. Dear parents, thank you for your trust. I believe that after four years we are returning your children to you as formed individuals, at least a shade better than when they came to us,” said Reis Fejzić.
The ceremony featured a performance by the choir of the Medresa “Mehmed Fatih”, which further enriched the atmosphere of the academy and gave the occasion a special festive tone.
During the academy, diplomas were presented to the graduates, and special awards went to the students of the generation, who distinguished themselves during their schooling by their success, commitment and exemplary conduct. The awards were presented by ministers of the Government of Montenegro, the Vice-President of the Parliament of Montenegro and the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro.
The students of the generation are:
- Elisa Micović
- Esma Kajoshaj
- Merjem Ramović
A special moment of the ceremony was the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to the TIKA coordinator, Nihal Ersoy, for her contribution to and support of the work of the Medresa “Mehmed Fatih” and the education of young people. It was presented to her by the Reis of the Islamic Community in Montenegro, Rifat ef. Fejzić.
The academy ended with a group photograph and prayers (dua) for the success of the graduates, who will carry the name of their school as a lasting value, honour and obligation along the rest of their path in life.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Government of Montenegro, ministers, members of the Parliament of Montenegro, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Montenegro, H.E. Ayda Ünlü, representatives of the Islamic Community, parents, teachers, friends of the Medresa and many guests from social, cultural and public life.
